ARTIST‘S TREAT

Nov 6, 2025 - Nov 18, 2025

Today, the role of artists within the urban cultural ecosystem extends far beyond simply “creating works.” They are not only producers of art, but also initiators of cultural relationships, users of space, and active participants in the mechanisms of urban culture. The project “Artist’s Treat” seeks to emphasize and draw attention to the diversity of the artist ecosystem.

In our cultural imagination, artists are often confined to the role of “creators”—they provide works, participate in exhibitions, and wait to be seen. In reality, however, many artists have already begun to actively expand their roles. They are creators, but they can also be curators, organizers, founders of institutions, and even driving forces behind certain forms of cultural practice. This kind of action, emerging from one’s own circumstances, is not necessarily deliberate, but rather a natural, occasional, and sustained cultural practice.

Every artist participates in the construction of the art system in their own way. By setting themes, organizing events, and activating spaces, they propose different possibilities for how art can take place. Here, “treating guests” is a symbolic gesture. It expresses initiative and the diversity of creative practice. Artists no longer wait to be arranged; instead, they organize for themselves, extend invitations, define relationships, and allow culture to happen.

Through this project, we hope to show audiences that the role of the artist can expand from “artistic creation” to “self-mobilization.” Art is not merely an inevitable outcome, but also a fluid movement of diverse relationships and structures.
